The Kansai Promotion Council for the 2019 G20 Osaka Summit sought AP Content Services’ help in crafting and promoting stories that would inspire awareness and consideration of Osaka and Kansai as destinations for international travelers and hubs for both business and medical research ahead of the G20 Osaka Summit.
Our team conducted extensive research to unearth the most newsworthy story angles that might be of interest to media groups covering the G20 Osaka Summit. AP Content Services elected to highlight three main stories: an introduction to Osaka, a focused spotlight on business in Osaka and a dive into iPS cell research conducted at Kyoto University. The introduction to Osaka featured iconic Osaka locales chosen for peak media and tourist attention during the G20 Summit. The spotlight on Osaka businesses offered a look into the history and cultural impact of Cup Noodle from the Nissin Foods Group, as well as the world’s first snap-off blade cutter produced by OLFA Corporation. Nissin Foods Group and OLFA Corporation, both founded in Osaka, were selected to align with the Council’s desire to emphasize the entrepreneurial history of the region. Reflecting Osaka’s innovative leadership in the medical sciences, a multimedia feature on iPS cell research featured a video interview with Nobel Laureate Dr. Shinya Yamanaka from Osaka, who was awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his research. Our team produced custom videos that were both consumer-ready and newsroom-ready, as well as photos and text articles for distribution across AP’s video and photo wires and native/social promotion across the AP News app and site, the AP native member network and Facebook.
In addition to featuring the content in a downloadable format on their website, Kansai Promotion Council for the 2019 G20 Osaka Summit featured the consumer-ready video on signage at the Media Press Center at the G20 Osaka Summit, in the exhibition area and on the bus during transportation between the Summit venue and the hotel.
